BIOGRAPHY

Nicaya Wiley began her dance training at the age of two with Carol Christy school of dance in Saint Louis Missouri. In the earliest years of her childhood, she spent at local competition dance studios, where she learned her stage presence and how to quickly pick up choreography. In 2012 Nicaya made her first appearance on the reality television show Dance Moms and was on the show until the 7th season which concluded in 2017. At that time during filming, she was forced to leave her home studio and went a few months without a studio to call home. On the show, Wiley was introduced to choreography, actor, and former Alvin Ailey dancer; Anthony Barrell who connect with two former Alvin Ailey dancers and friends Antonio and Kirven Douthid-Boyd who was in the workings of becoming the artistic director of the pre-professional dance program at Center of Creative Arts (COCA). Nicaya Wiley started her training at COCA in 2013. During her years at COCA, she joined the hip hop company, under the artistic direction of Anthony (REDD) Williams and COCA dance; the modern dance company under the artist direction of Kirven Douthid-Boyd. She performed starring and leading roles in pieces choreographed by, Alvin Ailey, Matthew Rushing, Judith Jamison, Gheremih Green, Ronald K. Brown, and many more. At COCA is where she began her intensive training in ballet while taking outside classes at Alexandria school of Ballet to keep up with her class. As she didn’t get good ballet training from the previous competition studio she attended. She began her training in Graham, Horton, and point techniques. As well as tap, jazz, and hip hop. Nicaya also did plays and musicals at COCA and middle school. She played the scarecrow in The Wiz production and the school bully in Akeelah and the Bee. In 2019 Nicaya graduated from COCA and High school and was accepted into The Boston Conservatory at Berklee where she is currently reaching her 4th year.
